Advice Harvest Tapestry, by Carol Ventura
Carol writes: This is my latest wall tapestry - done in tapestry crochet, of course! It is titled, "The Harvest" and is part of a 2 part "Mother's Advice" series. Being raised Catholic and living in the Bible Belt has obviously influenced my work. It is a bit rebellious, though, since Mary is shown teaching Jesus in both pieces. After researching icons and searching for the appropriate images, I decided to use my own face on both figures, as I have done so many times before. The framed size (I also made the frame) is 23 1/2" x 28 1/2". It was tapestry crocheted with linen and metallic thread with a size 5 steel hook. The haloes are bead tapestry crocheted.
